Interviews can be scary experiences for everyone, including the interviewer. But everyone can do really well at them with some really simple preparation.
Know what to expect
If you practice being interviewed and being put on the spot to answer questions you are more likely to know what to say when the interviewer does the same thing.
Ask a friend or one of our advisers to give you a mock interview
What type of interview? There are several different ways of interviewing candidates including group, panel, one to one and stage interviews (used to screen candidates and make sure only the strongest ones go through to the next round).
Make sure you have everything you might need
On your invitation to interview you should get a list of everything you require but in general make sure you take a copy of your CV, some ID, address of where the interview is, contact name and number of the person you are meeting, and copies of your references or their contact details.
Create the right image for your job
Find out a bit about the job and industry you are applying for, this way you will fit in when you go for interview. For example you shouldn't arrive for a call centre interview wearing a tracksuit and trainers as most people in call centres wear suits or smart clothing.
"I'm sure I got the job"
Sometimes employers will show you around the workplace and where you would be sitting if you get the job. This doesn't always mean you were successful, don't presume just ask when they will let you know.
To find out more information on how to come out top in job interviews contact one of our programmes and ask your Personal Adviser.
