Reed in Partnership works with a wide variety of specialist and
end-to-end providers across the UK. We're delighted to share
some of our success stories - firstly here are two pieces of
good news from Community Links, a partner on our Families Programme
in East London.
Linton
Linton is 52. He was referred to the Families Programme in May.
Community Links provided Linton with a dedicated Adviser, Colette.
Colette and Linton worked together, creating a plan to address his
issues with housing, debt and employment.
Firstly, Linton attended debt management training and was given
one-to-one housing and debt support. The next step for Linton was
to attend a two-day "Becoming Assertive and Confidence Building"
course. As a result he felt ready to make use of the employment
support Colette had offered. He had a realistic debt repayment
plan, stable housing and the confidence to impress employers.
Colette got to work improving Linton's CV and securing work
trials. Before long a work trial offered up a full time vacancy.
Colette helped Linton to create a great application and to practice
for the interview. With her support, Linton secured a multi-skilled
job as a cleaner and forklift truck driver; a role that he is
really enjoying.
The sky is now the limit for Linton - he is aiming to achieve a
promotion in the next two years, clear his debts and save enough
for a flat deposit.
Linton said: "I have been through some really dark times
recently and after asking for help in loads of different places and
getting nothing back, I went to Community Links and they have been
incredibly supportive. I always feel all of the Advisers go the
extra mile to help you - they are absolutely wonderful and I would
recommend the programme to anyone!"
Kamran
Kamran had been out of work for a year and couldn't understand
why finding work was so difficult. His debts had begun to mount and
he received an eviction notice for his flat. With no idea who to
turn to for support, Kamran decided to join the Families
Programme.
Kamran was introduced to a dedicated a Community Links Adviser
who helped him to tackle a number of family, employment and
financial issues.
Throughout his time on the programme Kamran attended parenting
workshops, improved his CV, gained better interview skills,
accessed a money management course and was given specialist advice
on his eviction notice.
As a result of this support, Kamran secured a job as a Customer
Liaison Officer, he was given permission to remain in his home and
is paying off his debts with a manageable plan. He is hoping to
rise back into management very soon.
Kamran said, "I am very grateful for the support that I got from
the Community Links Advisers. They helped me overcome different
problems and taught me how to deal with my money and home problems.
I also got help with getting a job that I wanted and am happy in.
Thank you so much."
