Apprenticeships for learners

Will you reach your potential? Complete an Apprenticeship and boost your career prospects more

Through our Apprenticeship service, you can gain new skills and qualifications that will help you to improve opportunities for promotion and wider career progression.

So just what are Apprenticeships?

Many people think of Apprenticeships as being only available to young people, but today they are open to all ages. Apprenticeships provide an excellent way of gaining new skills and are backed by employers.

Our Apprenticeships are nationally recognised work-based learning programmes that will help you gain new skills and qualifications. By working with you and your employer, we provide an Apprenticeship that fits with your career path. This enables you to develop whilst in work and gain the qualifications you need to progress. Whilst undertaking an Apprenticeship, you may also be eligible for financial support through the Skills Funding Agency, who would help to fund your qualification.

Our Apprenticeships are available to any age group in any sector. No matter whether you've been with your company for six months or six years, we can support you to earn a valuable qualification that helps you progress in work.

What does an Apprenticeship involve?

Your Apprenticeship is broken down into five main qualifications. Your Reed in Partnership Assessor will provide you with support in each of these areas:

NVQ qualification Level 2 (Apprenticeship) or Level 3 (Advanced Apprenticeship) - A work-based qualification based on your role and how you do your job which helps you improve existing skills and learn new ones

Certificate Level 2 (Apprenticeship) or Level 3 (Advanced Apprenticeship) - A knowledge qualification based on your job role which helps you to improve your underpinning knowledge and support you in carrying out your work

A Functional or Key Skill in Communication - A qualification covering written and spoken communication skills

A Functional or Key Skill in Application of Number - A qualification which covers applying maths within the workplace and in real situations

Employee Rights and Responsibilities - A guide to what is expected of you and your employer in the workplace

How does this work for me?

Our Assessors will work with you and your employer to identify the most relevant and beneficial Apprenticeship for you. We will provide you with a tailored Apprenticeship that builds on your current skills and the needs of employers.

As an Apprentice you will continue to do your day-to-day job and an experienced Reed in Partnership Assessor will be assigned to guide you through the learning you need to complete to achieve your Apprenticeship. Studying is highly flexible and is designed to fit around your existing commitments.

To help you get there, we will agree an Individual Learning Plan with you and your employer which will break your Apprenticeship down into manageable bite-sized chunks. Depending on the level of NVQ that you work towards, a typical Apprenticeship can take about 12 months to complete, but the benefits last throughout your career!

What support do I get?

Your dedicated Reed in Partnership Assessor will provide you with quality support every step of the way. They will meet with you in your workplace to support you in achieving your goals. You will also receive a comprehensive induction which will ensure that you have all the information you need to progress through your Apprenticeship. Our expert Assessors will also be able to advise and guide you on the next steps after completing your qualification.

Remember:

• Many Apprentices find that completing an Apprenticeship improves their career prospects and opportunities for promotion
• An Apprenticeship provides you with the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications while you work
• An Apprenticeship helps you learn new skills and is directly related to your job
• Your Apprenticeship can be a great starting point for further training within your industry
• With Reed in Partnership you will be given dedicated support from one of our trained and experienced Assessors
