Reed in Partnership has launched a new report From Care to Independence. The research focuses on the employment outcomes of young people leaving the care system.

 

From Care to Independence sets out a case for The Work Programme, the government's new welfare to work initiative, to support care leavers to find sustainable employment.

 

The current statistics show that young people leaving care are more than twice as likely to end up not in education, employment or training at the age of 19.

Inclusion evaluation of Work Experience Programme

The Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion conducted an evaluation of the Work Experience Programme, including a survey of young people who undertook placements. more

The evaluation highlights the value of employer engagement with participants and the need to ensure young people continue to receive the benefits which they are eligible for during their placement.
