Being involved in the local community

We're embedded in the communities we work in
Reed in Partnership works in some of the most deprived wards in the country, however our experience shows that in these areas there is often a strong sense of community and unity.  We know that to be successful we must gain the trust of local residents and make sure we understand their individual needs.  We do this in the following ways:

Accessibility - Reed in Partnership offices are located in the heart of the communities that we work in.  In addition to this, on our voluntary programmes many of our services are delivered on an outreach basis from community centres, children's centres and libraries.  This means we can meet people who may have not heard about our services or seen our offices.

Understanding the needs of the local community - Many Reed in Partnership staff are recruited from the local area.  This gives them a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area, the labour market and services available.  They can also relate well to our members and build a rapport with them quickly.

Reaching out to the local community - We regularly do door knocking campaigns and have stands in shopping centres so we can speak to residents about their fears about returning to work.  We will also get involved in larger multi-agency campaigns, such as the RESPECT weeks in Liverpool that aim to reduce anti-social behaviour.

Events - Reed in Partnership has hosted hundreds of events to engage with local residents.  We have held children's parties, a race day, teddy bear's picnics, pamper days and even a speed dating event.   These events have been fantastic fun for our members and staff and help to raise our profile in the community.

Sponsorship - Reed in Partnership believes in giving back to our local communities.  Each area has a local charity, which we donate money to for every person we place into work.  For example, in Liverpool and Sefton, we have also sponsored local events held by organisations such as schools, Tranmere Alliance, Tranmere Together Partnership Group and Wirral Change.
