Our track record

Doncaster
Over 6,000 people in Doncaster are better off working thanks to Reed in Partnership’s Employment Zone and Action Team programmes, operating in the area since 2000.

Our innovative outreach work and strong relationships with Jobcentre Plus, local employers and partner organisations have been a key factor in our success, as have our special initiatives such as our Ex-Offender programme on the Action Team.

Working in partnership with HMP Doncaster to engage ex-offenders before the end of their sentences helped them to prepare themselves for the world of work outside of prison, and saw many of those go into work upon release.

We recently celebrated the refurbishment of the Doncaster EZ office with an event for all of our customers, partners and employers, attended by the local Mayor, and in May 2008 will be celebrating our 1,000th Single Parent into work.

Glasgow
Reed in Partnership’s presence in Glasgow has grown since our first Action Team in the city in 2001. We now operate a central Glasgow mandatory Employment Zone and seven Single Parent EZ offices across Glasgow, concentrating in areas of high deprivation, and engaging over 1,000 single parents in 2007.

Key to our success in the area has been our work with employers; the Employer Services Team has over 40 regular employers in the city who provide us with hundreds of vacancies every month. Our committed staff make sure that every
member is well prepared for interviews and that they are supported at all times through the transition into work.

Liverpool
Liverpool has faced a period of dramatic change and growth over recent years, and since 2000 Reed in Partnership has made a lasting contribution by placing over 20,000 people into work in the region.

Several key factors have contributed to our success. We have opened offices in the very heart of communities where there are large pockets of unemployment, in Walton, Garston, Old Swan and Kensington. These local offices provide communities with immediate access to our services and we identify community barriers to employment and the right actions to address them.

Our internal training team deliver pre-employability, numeracy and literacy,
customer service and retail skills and we work closely with Jobcentre Plus and initiatives such as JET towards a seamless service for employers. We also promote our service through local partners such as Liverpool City Council, Chambers of Commerce and Children’s Information Service.

London
Reed in Partnership has been running mandatory Jobseeker’s Allowance and voluntary Single Parent Employment Zones (EZ) in London since April 2000. We currently operate in four areas of the city: Brent, Haringey, Southwark and Newham and Tower Hamlets.

Some of our key achievements include:
• Achieving the highest ever conversion rate from registration to job outcome in Southwark
• Building a fantastic relationship with Morrison’s in Haringey, placing 153 people into work with an 87% retention rate
• Reaching an 83% 13-week retention rate at Brent’s Single Parent programme
• Increasing the Chrisp Street Market traders by 47% with the help of Leaside
Regeneration, as part of the Tower Hamlets Working Neighbourhood Pilot in 2004-06

Our Partners’ Outreach for Ethnic Minorities (POEM) contracts, which started in March 2007 in City & East London, Lambeth, Southwark & Wandsworth and South London, were recently extended for another year.

Central to this programme is the strong relationships we have forged within the
Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Somali target communities. This includes support from the Muslim Council of Britain, the London Muslim Centre where the programme was officially launched in July 2007 and the Jagonari Women’s Centre in Tower Hamlets.

Our regular outreach stand in Stratford Shopping Centre has helped to raise our profile in Newham and has been a very successful source of community referrals in  that area.

Since 1998, we’ve engaged with over 83,000 people, placing 33,500 back into work. One element of our success in London is the diversity of our team.
We recruit from within our target communities, meaning that our staff currently speak 80% of the languages spoken by our jobseekers, breaking down the communication barrier that might have prevented them from working.
