Caring in the community

12 Dec 2018

Work Routes joined forces with TLC Care Homes to recruit 18 new Support Workers for their care business for Residential Care and Supported Living options to over 16s who have a moderate to severe Learning Disability in Essex and Suffolk.

Participants are given a route into care through a test programme which makes sure that the job is right for them. TLC Operations Manager Alan Betts said:

“The Christmas period can be a challenging time for us to recruit, so this programme we run means we can keep hiring throughout quieter times.”

Work Routes Recruitment Manager Steve met with Alan Betts, Operations Manager and created the test programme over a five-day Monday to Friday period to provide a journey into care. After the week taster and training to see how participants get on, TLC then offer a week of work experience, and following this the successful candidates become support workers. Alan said:

“It’s an excellent way to engage with potential job applicants that offers a blend of work place experience as well as an introduction into the care sector.”

“By working on a tailored programme we have been able to work with Work Routes, a programme enhances our organisation in terms of recruiting front line staff.”
