Landing a job... and a parliamentary invite!

21 May 2019

Myroula, a participant on our Work Routes 50+ service in London, was invited to a breakfast reception at the House of Commons, as part of the government’s ‘Every Day is Different’ campaign aimed at filling the 110,000 vacancies in the adult social care sector.

Hosted by Caroline Dinenage, the Minister of State for Care, the event featured an exhibition of photographs taken to showcase the work being done by care workers.

Myroula featured in one of the exhibitions photographs, which showed her working with a service user who sadly passed away just weeks after the photograph was taken.

When Myroula accessed Work Routes 50+ last year, she was unsure of what her next career move should be. She received in-depth support from her Employment Adviser, after which she was offered an interview with Westminster Homecare.

She said:

“I am now working full time as a care worker and I am happy to be back in the workplace. I feel more confident about myself as a result of being in work again.”

Congratulations to Myroula and all those who were featured in the exhibition. You can find out more about the Every Day is Different campaign at everydayisdifferent.com
